Job Description:

I remember when I was a little girl; I would line up my stuffed animals and dolls, and play ‘school’.  During those countless hours I would emulate teachers from my elementary school, draw with white crayons on my black construction paper ‘chalkboard’, and fill in worksheets with the wrong answers just so I got the chance to use my big red pen with the sparkles in it to grade my student’s work.  As the years went on, I volunteered in many classrooms and worked with kids through volunteer programs like Big Brother Big Sister.

I attended Penn State University where I majored in not only Nittany Lion Pride, but Elementary and Kindergarten Education.  During student teaching I worked hard to prove myself as an outstanding candidate for a position that would be available the following year.  My perseverance paid off and I spent two years teaching 3rd grade in Royersford, PA before moving out to Colorado with my husband in 2005.  My good fortune struck again as I was offered a position to teach 2nd grade at Coyote Ridge.  I returned from maternity leave with my son for the 2006-2007 school year and transitioned from 2nd to 4th grade.  After teaching 4th grade for three years, I am once again teaching 3rd grade.  I am very excited to have the opportunity to experience various grade levels, as it provides me with a wonderful perspective on child development throughout those years.

I am very excited to teach the new science curriculum that has been added to third grade.  Earth Movements will be an exciting unit of study, especially because my husband's career and education background lends itself perfectly to providing me with additional background knowledge to pass along.

After school I am a co—sponsor for both student leadership and drama club.  Our drama club has performed Peter Pan, The Wizard of Oz, and most recently, Willy Wonka, Jr. I have a passion for working with children in drama club.

Aside from teaching, my loves are my family and friends.  I spend my free time crafting and love reading, especially memoirs.  I miss Pennsylvania for three reasons: most of my family’s there, King of Prussia Mall has some of the best shopping, and it’s so hard to find an amazing cheese steak outside of Philadelphia!
