Special Education
Remote Learning:
Remote learning this fall will include more synchronous (live/teacher-led) instruction during standard school day hours. This means, to the extent possible, student schedules will mirror what they would in a brick and mortar classroom. Teachers will guide students through lessons, activities, assignments and group work during portions of the day similar to how they would in the physical classroom.
This new remote learning approach is designed to lessen the burden on parents and guardians to facilitate daily learning. It is, however, important to keep in mind, the amount of support may vary based on your child’s age and experience with technology.
Daily Schedules (M, T, Th, F)
Elementary Level (K-5): Students and teachers in our elementary and students and teachers will follow a that includes time for breaks, lunch and teacher planning. Keep in mind, times provided are approximate and may be adjusted slightly as remote learning is implemented.
Wednesday Schedule
Wednesday will be used to provide more targeted support for students at all levels to supplement the synchronous remote learning on other days. On Wednesday mornings:
-
Students at all levels will engage in asynchronous (on-demand/independent work) learning posted by teachers.
-
Students in special populations, including students with disabilities, English language learners, students on an Advanced Learning Plan and other specialized needs, will have the opportunity for in-person/virtual instruction and additional support.
-
Teacher Office Hours: Teachers at all levels will have office hours where students can reach them for additional support via platforms such as Google Meet and Zoom.
-
Teacher Planning: As always, teachers will use Wednesday afternoon early release time for professional learning and collaborative planning.
Office Hours:
We will have set office hours beginning on Thursday, August 27th. During this time, we will be available to quickly respond to emails, answer questions, and have video chats with students. We are setting aside dedicated office hours so that we can be most available and responsive to our students and families during that set time.
