Fifth Grade Focus
Reading: We have just finished up our theme unit and we are moving into Ideas and Interactions: A study of a variety of nonfiction, including historical, technical, and/or scientific texts, determining how two or more main ideas are supported by details, including interactions between individuals, events, or ideas.

Writing: In writing we have finished our Narrative Writing and will be moving into Opinion Writing: Students will write opinion pieces on topics supporting a point of view with reasons and information in which they introduce the topic clearly, state an opinion and create an organizational structure in which related ideas are logically grouped to support the writer’s purpose.

Math: We have begun unit 2, Whole Number Place Value and Operations: The study of the base-10 system and its application to computation with multi-digit whole numbers and  standard algorithms through the lens of problem solving, perseverance, and attention to precision.
