The month of September is filled with rhythm in music class! Kindergarten through fourth grades have played the drums, while fifth grade is performing rhythmic step dancing for their second grade buddies. The fifth graders are so excited!
Second through fifth grades have also been learning to write rhythms. They have been implementing the Building Thinking Classrooms strategies to help each other write in 4/4, 3/4 and 2/4 time. It is amazing to see them sharing ideas!
The Denver Young Artists Orchestra’s first concert of the season “Metamorphosis” is just around the corner. The program explores themes of transformation through some of the most compelling musical works: the mystical world of the ancient Mayas in Silvestre Revueltas' La noche de los Mayas, the lush landscapes of the Amazon with Daniel Catán's Florencia en el Amazonas, and Paul Hindemith's inventive Symphonic Metamorphosis of Themes by Carl Maria von Weber.
As a teacher, you and your students are eligible for a free ticket to our concert. The concert will be at Boettcher Concert Hall at the Denver Performing Arts Complex on Sunday, September 29th at 2:30pm. You can get your free ticket by following this link: https://tickets.coloradosymphony.org/7284.
