CRE Weekly Newsletter April 10

Dear Coyote Ridge Community,

It’s been a great week to be a Coyote!

This week, I don’t have as many updates to share as usual, as our primary focus has been on supporting our 3rd–5th grade students during CMAS testing. Our staff has worked incredibly hard to maintain a calm, consistent, and conducive learning environment so that students can do their very best. I’ve been so impressed with our students, for their focus, perseverance, and positive attitudes throughout the week. Thank you to our teachers and staff for creating supportive testing spaces, and to our families for helping ensure students are well-rested and ready each day.

McElwain Book Drive

We were so excited to welcome McElwain this week, as they stopped by to deliver student-created thank you notes and letters in appreciation of the recent refresh of their library. It was incredibly meaningful to see their students’ voices and gratitude shine through in such a personal way. We are so thankful for this partnership and the opportunity to connect our two school communities in a way that truly benefits students.

Festival of Nations

We hope to see you at our annual Festival of Nations next week on April 16th from 5:30–7:00 PM! This special event will feature student performances and provide an opportunity to learn more about the many amazing cultures represented in our CRE community. It’s always a joyful evening of connection, celebration, and learning; we hope you can join us!

Lost and Found

A quick reminder to check our Lost & Found! It is currently overflowing with jackets, water bottles, lunch boxes, and more. Please encourage your child to stop by and look for any missing items, or feel free to come take a look yourself. Any unclaimed items will be donated at the end of next week, so be sure to check before then!

Trading Card Club

Our new Trading Card Club has been a fun and exciting addition to our growing list of student-led clubs! Students have loved the opportunity to connect over shared interests, practice good sportsmanship, and build community while trading and talking about their favorite cards. It’s been great to see students take the lead in creating a welcoming and engaging space for their peers!

As a reminder, Monday is a professional learning day for our staff, we are looking forward to welcoming back our Coyotes on Tuesday!

In partnership,

Carolyn Webb, Coyote Ridge Principal

Mwebaza News

We want to share a huge thank you to everyone who made our recent Mwebaza Day such an awesome success!

It was inspiring to witness the live connection between our Colorado students and their partner school in Uganda. From the songs and dances performed by our choir and club students to the thoughtful questions exchanged about students’ daily lives, the day was a powerful reminder that education has the unique ability to bridge any distance.

A special thank you to school staff- we appreciate your ongoing support and your patience as we navigate the logistics of international live-streaming. Teachers, thank you for giving us the extra time to chat with students afterward to process everything they saw and learned. As always, thank you to our club sponsors- your dedication in preparing our students for their performances helps make Mwebaza Day special. Thank you for your continued hard work! And of course, a massive "well done" to our performers! Your courage and enthusiasm made this exchange truly special.

Events like this remind us that we are all part of a global community. Thank you for helping make these connections possible and for making this year’s call our best one yet!

Warmly,

The Mwebaza Foundation
