CRE Weekly Newsletter April 11

Dear Coyote Ridge Community,

Happy Friday! We have all settled back into our rounties after spring break and students have been excited and engaged back at Coyote Ridge. We jumped right into our CMAS testing for our 3rd- 5th grade students this week and I have been so impressed with their commitment and perseverance as they work hard to showcase their learning on the CMAS assessment. Molina was here yesterday greeting students and making her rounds. I can safely say that she was the most missed CRE staff member over the break.

Budget Update

Thank you for your patience as we have worked to solidify the Coyote Ridge school budget for the 2025- 2026 school year. I am thrilled to be able to share that we will maintain 3 classes at each grade level (kindergarten- 5th grade) and that our class sizes will range from 20- 23 students across all grade levels. For the most part, our staffing will look relatively similar to this school year, but we do have to make some adjustments in support staff. We will be losing some district funded positions. These include: a half time digital literacy teacher (Ms. Dawn will still be in the library full time as our media tech), our literacy intervention teacher allocation will be reduced from a full time to a half time position and we have also lost our funding for our general education paraprofessional positions (this does not include SSN paras). The district has also eliminated the GT advocate position district wide, however that does not result in a person cut for us, as that position had remained unfulfilled for CRE. I met with the PTO leadership team on Tuesday and shared this information. To fill the gap of our loss of some intervention services and paraprofessional positions, the PTO has added a new position to their slate: Volunteer Coordinator. PTO will be supporting with organizing, training and placing volunteers to support in a wide variety of ways around the school. We are thrilled about this! What I love about our CRE community is that when a gap arises, everyone works together to step up and support. I am so excited to be able to bring more parents into the school next year, supporting in new and exciting ways. I heard through the grapevine that many Coyote Ridge stakeholders reached out to the district and their state representatives to advocate for adequate funding at Coyote Ridge and all schools. Your voices matter and we could not be more thankful that you advocated for us and have helped us preserve so many positions that are integral to our success as a school. As always, thank you for your support. I look forward to seeing the great things that we will achieve together in the 2025- 2026 school year and beyond.

Boosterthon

Thank you for your support for our annual Boosterthon fundraiser. What a fun event it was! We raised $38,000 for Coyote Ridge! We are quickly putting this money to work for our students, as a portion of the money raised will be funding our Depth and Complexity training on Monday, April 14th. All teachers will participate in this training and we are so excited to be able to integrate this programming into all of our subject areas for the 25- 26 school year. In addition to multiple training sessions from the Depth and Complexity team, we will also be able to purchase curriculum kits for every teacher in the building using our Boosterthon funds. In addition to Depth and Complexity, Boosterthon funds will go towards maintaining our IXL subscription for the 2025- 2026 school year. Both Depth and Complexity and IXL programming will continue to support us in fulfilling our school mission and vision of creating and fostering critical thinkers and providing differentiated instruction for all students so that they can grow and thrive as learners each year at Coyote Ridge.

Festival of Nations

We can not wait to see you for our annual Festival of Nations event next Thursday, April 17th. We have so many countries represented this year: Thailand, Barbados, Brazil, Austria, Poland, France, Germany, Netherlands, Belize, Hungary and Uganda. We will also be treated to a performance from our first and second graders. We look forward to seeing you here on Thursday as we celebrate our diverse community together.

Student of the Month

Throughout the month of March, we tasked teachers with identifying students who showed an exemplary amount of risk taking in the classroom. I can attest that as I visited classrooms in the month of March, I noticed an extraordinary amount of students taking academic risks and pushing themselves as learners. Thank you to our teachers for fostering this trait with our students in the month of March and always.

As a reminder, Monday is a professional learning day for staff. We will see you on Tuesday, April 15th. I hope you are able to enjoy the warm weather this weekend!

In partnership,

Carolyn Webb, Coyote Ridge Principal
