CRE Weekly Newsletter April 21
Post
Dear Coyote Ridge Community, It’s been an eventful week at CRE. We wrapped up CMAS for our 3rd and 4th graders this week, our 5th graders will conclude their testing on Monday. We have had far better attendance during CMAS testing this school year than we have had in years past, so we truly appreciate your commitment to getting students here on testing days.
Congrats to Ms. Shannon!! Each year, all employees in Adams 12 Schools have the opportunity to nominate colleagues for one of our strength in action awards. An award is given for each of the pillars of Adams 12’s philosophy of supporting students and families each day. Shannon Stewart, our paraprofessional and makerspace extraordinaire, was nominated for the Engage award. We found out this week that Ms. Shannon was selected as the winner for this award! A district team came out to present the award to her this week and our kindergartners planned a special surprise for her. We are so grateful that Ms. Shannon is a part of our Coyote Ridge community. Shannon goes above and beyond each day to support students in so many ways. Shannon is always learning new skills and dreaming up new and exciting opportunities for students in the makerspace. If you see Ms. Shannon, be sure to congratulate her on this incredible achievement!
Depth and Complexity! On Monday, teachers engaged in a full day of professional learning with a Depth and Complexity trainer. We are so grateful that our Boosterthon funds were able to pay for this training. Thank you!! We will be fully implementing this programming beginning in August, but many teachers around the school began testing out the strategies this week. Teachers are excited to be able to implement these strategies as we continue to find ways to support our diverse range of students at CRE. Teachers have already been coming up with ways to have parents support students using Depth and Complexity strategies when they come in to volunteer. We look forward to being able to update you on our progress with this exciting new offering at CRE.
Festival of Nations Last night was our annual Festival of Nations celebration here at Coyote Ridge. Thank you to Ms. Pries, Ms. Harris, Ms. Paula and our PTO for all of the hard work you put in to make this, once again, a fabulous community event. Being able to recognize and celebrate the uniqueness of our community is so special. Thank you to everyone who took the time to come celebrate with us last night!
Upcoming Construction Work at CRE I wanted to go ahead and begin providing advanced notice that the Coyote Ridge school grounds will be a construction site, therefore off limits, for the month of June and a portion of July. Thanks to the Bond initiative that was passed in the recent November election, Coyote Ridge is getting a, very much needed, new roof! The roof project begins on May 30th, so please remind your children that the CRE campus will be a construction site for the majority of the summer. I know that the CRE playground is a community gathering place, so I do apologize that this will be removed as a place to play this summer. In exchange, we get a new roof and much less work for our custodial staff fixing leaks throughout the building. We appreciate your understanding.
Kindergarten Orientation Next week on Thursday, April 24th, from 4pm- 5pm we are inviting all of our new kindergarten families in for an orientation and meet and greet with our kindergarten teachers. We can not wait to meet our new Coyotes! In addition to this orientation, we will also be hosting a student only introductory visit to Coyote Ridge on Tuesday, July 29th. Families will sign up for a 45 minute time slot on the 29th. A sign up for this event will be coming out shortly. Please spread the word to any families that you know of who were accepted but possibly have not registered just yet. Christi in the main office can answer any registration questions you may have.
