CRE Weekly Newsletter Feb. 14
Post
Dear Coyote Ridge Community,
Happy Valentine’s Day from Molina, our therapy dog!
Molina wanted to be sure that the entire CRE community received her Valentine. She has quickly become the most loved staff member at Coyote Ridge, we are so grateful for her! Molina will be at the front door greeting students back from our mid winter break, we know she will be excited to welcome everyone back.
Peer Mentorship Classrooms at CRE
This school year, we implemented peer mentorship classrooms where each of our primary classrooms have an intermediate “buddy class”. These classes get together regularly to do a variety of activities. Sometimes, our intermediate classes come to support our younger students when they are learning a new skill or working on a project. This week, Ms. Moore’s (4th) and Ms. Kover’s (1st) classes participated in a shared self compassion activity where students celebrated themselves and identified things that they love about themselves. Our first graders were able to identify some really special qualities they love about themselves with the guidance of their fourth grade buddies. The idea for this activity stemmed from our staff self compassion work on our February professional learning day. I love to see staff modeling these behaviors with our students.
School Funding for the 25-26 School Year
At a recent Parent/Principal connect meeting, I shared some realities about the state and district budget for the 25-26 school year. The new state funding model puts Adams 12 Schools at a 13 million dollar deficit for next school year. This will likely translate into larger class sizes, less opportunities for school choice and cuts of support positions within the school. The district has done a great job of capturing all of this on the district website. There is also an embedded link to contact your state representative to express any concerns that you may have.

Glow Dance
Thank you to our fabulous PTO for organizing and facilitating another amazing community event. It was great to see so many smiling faces here at CRE last Friday at the glow dance. Fun was had by all! Friendly reminder: at community events, please make sure you have an eye on your child and are aware of them at all times. We appreciate your support in ensuring that our community events can be a safe and fun experience for all of our students. Additionally, we LOVE having CRE alumni at our events! Moving forward, all CRE alumni must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at an event. Thank you!
Kindergarten Information Night for our incoming kinders for 25-26
We look forward to welcoming our new kindergarten families to an informational night on Wednesday, March 26th @ 5pm here at Coyote Ridge. Please spread the word in the neighborhood for any new families. We are notifying families of the informational night when they register, so please encourage anyone you know to go ahead and register for next school year.
Mid winter break next week
We hope you are able to enjoy some time together with your loved ones next week during our week-long mid winter break. We will see you back at Coyote Ridge on Monday, February 24th.
In partnership,
Carolyn Webb, Coyote Ridge Principal
TODAY IS THE LAST DAY!
To help us continually elevate your child’s educational experience, I encourage you to take our annual Family-School Relationships Survey! The survey is specific for our school and will help us know where we are succeeding and where we can improve. There is a friendly competition between elementary schools for the highest percentage of surveys completed. We are currently behind last year by quite a lot. Please help us out! There is a small monetary award for the winner. The survey closes tonight, February 14. Take it here: https://bit.ly/40eS5ms
