CRE Weekly Newsletter Feb. 28
Post
Dear Coyote Ridge Community,
Gear up as there is a lot of important information to share this week!
Budget/Intent to Return Form
I wanted to address some budget concerns. The information that our superintendent sent out to families last night was also shared at our PTO leadership meeting on Tuesday. I have had some questions from families about this and there seems to be some confusion that this is only affecting Coyote Ridge. I want to be clear that the budget concerns that were addressed in the PTO meeting are district and state wide concerns. All Adams 12 schools and most schools in the state of Colorado will have reduced funding next school year based on the new state formula for funding schools. Yesterday’s email from Chris Gdowski, Adams 12 superintendent, highlights ways you can share your voice with your state representatives. To help us better plan for next school year, please fill out the intent to return form that was sent out this week. Thanks!
Student of the Month- Curiosity
This month we tasked teachers with identifying students who have shown an extraordinary amount of curiosity throughout the month of February. Curiosity is a trait that we really value and foster at Coyote Ridge. We know that as students can become curious about their world, their critical thinking skills blossom. Congrats to our February student of the month winners!
Author Visit Next Week
As a reminder, The Bookies Bookstore is sponsoring the upcoming visit of nonfiction author and illustrator, Rachel Ignotofsky to CRE on Friday, March 7. Rachel is touring for her newest release, What’s Inside a Caterpillar Cocoon and is excited to talk to students about it. The Bookies Bookstore has discounted the books for this visit. Buying a book helps The Bookies sponsor these visits for free!
Paperbacks of What’s Inside a Caterpillar Cocoon are available to purchase for $8.50. (Cash or check only to Coyote Ridge Elementary)
If the order form that went home recently is nowhere to be found, you can print a copy of the order form or pick up a copy in the main office.
Spring Conferences
Our spring conference sign up will come out today from your child’s classroom teacher at 3pm. Please sign up for a slot, we look forward to connecting with you!
Mwebaza Art Fundraiser
During our spring conferences, we will be hosting a student art fundraiser to benefit our sister school, The St. Paul School, in Uganda. Students have been working hard to create a masterpiece to donate for the fundraiser. Our Mwebaza club met this week to create some posters to advertise for the event. I look forward to you seeing all of the incredible artwork!
Yearbook Reminder
Preserve those memories and don't forget to order your 2024-2025 yearbook. The deadline for orders is March 29th. Books are $20 and can be purchased using this yearbook link. Please reach out to Courtney Beerman (courtney.beerman@adams12.org) with any questions.
Spring Panorama Survey
Our spring Panorama survey is coming up. Panorama is a voluntary survey that students in grades 3-12 complete once in the fall and once in the spring. We use the data from the survey to ensure that we are meeting the social emotional needs of each child at Coyote Ridge. Coyote Ridge students in grades 3-5 will receive the survey during class between March 17-28th. Each class will choose a specific date within these two weeks. If you wish to opt your child out of this survey, please let Abbey Young, our SEL, know via email. (abbey.e.young@adams12.org)
Lockdown Drill
We will conduct our spring lockdown drill on Monday around 9am.
I hope you are able to get out and enjoy the warm weather this weekend!
In gratitude,
Carolyn Webb, Coyote Ridge Principal
Book Fair
Attention! CRE’s Spring Scholastic Book Fair is operating on a different schedule this year.
The in-person fair will be open on Tuesday and Wednesday after school on March 11 and 12 2:35-4:00 PM. We’ll be open late on Thursday, March 13 2:35-7:45 PM during the first day of conferences.
If you’re unable to attend one of the three in-person days, you can use this link to shop our school's online fair from March 10 to March 22. You can also use that link to set up an eWallet for your student.
A portion of all purchases from in-person and online sales directly benefit our library!
Volunteers are needed for set up, sales, and pack up. Find available slots here to help make this fair possible. Questions, please reach out to Jess Kivisto at jghendricks@gmail.com.

A Note from the Clinic
As the weather begins to change and temperatures warm up, please keep us in mind if you have gently used pants that your student has outgrown. We are in need of both boys and girls pants in all sizes. Thank you!
