CRE Weekly Newsletter Oct.10

Dear Coyote Ridge Community,

We loved seeing so many of you at conferences, the book fair, and our principal coffee this week. Your partnership and support make such a difference in your child’s school experience, and it was wonderful to connect and celebrate their growth together.

Bright Horizons Winner

We’re so excited to share that Coyote Ridge was selected as the Bright Horizons Credit Union School of the Month! A huge thank-you to the sweet parent who nominated us, your kindness and support mean the world. We’re proud to represent our amazing community!

Student-Led Clubs Are Thriving!

This school year, we’ve kicked off so many new student-led clubs, and it’s been incredible to watch our students step into leadership roles while building community. Their creativity, initiative, and teamwork are truly inspiring.

Student-Led Tours Starting Soon

We’re excited to announce that student-led tours will begin the week of October 20th and continue through winter break. Community members who are interested in participating can contact Christi Bullock in the office to sign up. Don’t miss this opportunity to see our school through the eyes of our students.

Mwebaza Partnership Update

Did you know that Coyote Ridge has a partnership with a school in Uganda?!

The Mwebaza Foundation is an educational organization that partners schools in Colorado with schools in Uganda.  Interested in learning more? Check out their website:  https://www.mwebaza.org/

This summer, the Mwebaza staff and some incredible volunteers traveled to Uganda to teach in their partner schools, reconnect with teachers and enjoy the country’s diverse culture. The students in Uganda were excited to learn about the differences between Colorado and Uganda, as well as all of the similarities they share! The Ugandan students also spent time doing the same projects that are taught by Mwebaza staff to the students here at Coyote Ridge Elementary School, which cover grade-specific topics like self-growth, community, global connection and advocacy.

The teachers in both Uganda and Colorado have begun preparing for our upcoming school year and activities- brainstorming new ways to collaborate and learn from each other. The students in the Mwebaza Ambassador Club are beginning to plan for the school-wide Mwebaza Day performance, where they live video stream with their friends in Uganda, perform songs and dance, ask questions to each other and watch as their friends across the globe do the same. In between planning for Mwebaza events, club kids have also been busy learning about community connection and playing fun games-some which come all the way from Uganda!

Questions to ask your student:

  1. What do you know about renewable energy? Why is it important here in Colorado? In the world?
  2. How would you feel about having a school schedule that had you be in school for three months at a time, then had a month off, then repeat?! This is how Uganda does it, instead of having school for nine months and a summer break like we do!
  3. What questions would you want to ask your friends in Uganda? What is something you wonder about them?

We hope all of our Coyote Ridge families enjoy a relaxing and fun fall break! Take time to rest, recharge, and make some wonderful memories together.

In partnership,

Carolyn Webb, Coyote Ridge Principal
