CRE Weekly Newsletter Sept. 27

Dear Coyote Ridge Community,

Happy Friday! We’ve had another amazing week at Coyote Ridge!

Broomfield Days Parade

Thank you so much to all of the students and families who joined us for the Broomfield Days Parade on Saturday. We also owe a huge thank you to our fabulous PTO for purchasing the candy and swag that we passed out during the parade. The weather was perfect and the Coyote Ridge pride was so strong. We had so much fun showing Broomfield how great it is to be a Coyote at Coyote Ridge Elementary!

Eco- Cycle Green School

I have some very exciting news to share with you. This school year, Coyote Ridge will become the first Eco-Cycle Green School in the Adams 12 school district! This incredible partnership between Eco-Cycle and Coyote Ridge has been made possible by a $10,000 donation from the city of Broomfield and a $5,000 sustainability grant from Adams 12 Five Star Schools. Eco-cycle is an organization that supports schools in implementing zero waste practices, composting and recycling and generally implementing more sustainable practices within the school. In addition to rigorous academic programming at Coyote Ridge, we pride ourselves in preparing our students to be critically thinking and preparing for an ever changing world. Teaching our children how to be more sustainable through environmentally friendly practices is very important to us and we are so thankful for this partnership with Eco-cycle as we enhance this focus at Coyote Ridge. Many of you know that we already have a composting program at the school, check out some of our kindergartners below, who are already composting champs!

Queen City Big Band Performance

As we work to create well rounded students at Coyote Ridge, we are so fortunate that all of our students were able to engage in a performance by CM Dance and the Queen City Jazz Band this week. The excitement from students was contagious. Make sure to ask them about the Blues chorus that the entire school created together. Hint: it’s about a cat!

Coffee with the Principal

Please join me next Wednesday, October 2nd, from 8am- 9am for some coffee and conversation. This is an informal chat, where families can connect with each other and we can talk about current happenings at Coyote Ridge. Thank you so much to our PTO for supplying the coffee.

Fall Conferences/Book Far

Over the next two weeks we will begin hosting fall conferences. These conferences are such an important part of the school to home partnership that we value and foster throughout the school year. Our teachers are excited to share students’ current progress and to give you some more insight into the impactful work that we do with students everyday. Additionally, we will be hosting our annual book fair during conferences. So, before or after your conference, please swing by the library to purchase some new books for your family. If your family is not financially able to shop at the book fair, please let me know and I will ensure that your child has an opportunity to purchase some new books.

The Book Fair  will be taking place during parent/teacher conferences on October 3rd and October 10th from 3 PM-7:45 PM in the library. A portion of all purchases from in-person and virtual sales directly benefit our library!

You can use this link to shop our school's online fair from October 2 to October 11. You can also use that link to set up an eWallet for your student.

Volunteers are needed for set up, sales, and tear down. Find available slots here to help make this fair possible. Questions, please reach out to Jess Kivisto at jghendricks@gmail.com.

Coming Soon: The Coyote Times!

I was interviewed this week for our new student run (with the help of Ms. Garren and Ms. Kundrat) newspaper, The Coyote Times. I can not wait for the first issue. It is inspiring to see our students taking on leadership roles as they conduct interviews, develop stories and put in the work to publish a school newspaper.

Friday, October 4th

Next Friday, October 4th is a professional learning day for staff. This is a day off for students. If you are looking for something fun to do with your kiddos in the afternoon on this day, our Coyote Ridge Cross Country team will be competing at the Adams 12 Cross Country Meet at Margaret W. Carpenter Recreation Center starting at 12pm.

Go Coyotes!

In partnership,

Carolyn Webb

Coyote Ridge Principal

Share your safety concerns and ideas to improve transportation safety, especially around Broomfield schools at https://www.broomfieldvoice.com/btsap. Your input, combined with safety and collision data, will be used to create the Broomfield Transportation Safety Action Plan (BTSAP). The BTSAP will identify ways to improve safety on Broomfield’s multimodal transportation network and include both action steps and recommendations that aim to reduce crashes and serious injuries when traveling in Broomfield. The survey and map close on Oct. 1.

Mwebaza Club

Our first club meeting will take place on Monday, September 30.  Parents, please pick up your students at 3:45 in the front of the school.
