Dear Parents and Guardians -

As I write this, we are two weeks into the school year and so far we are off to an amazing start. During the first week of school students quickly adapted to the daily class schedule and enjoyed getting to know one another through community building activities. At Coyote Ridge Elementary, we know how important it is to build meaningful relationships in a classroom. These relationships ensure every classroom has a strong foundation of mutual trust and respect.

In addition to focusing on the social/emotional well being of our students, teachers also began conducting assessments to get a good baseline for each student. These assessments will take place over the first two to three weeks of school and provide a good measure of student progress over the course of the school year. The results also help us set targets for growth that are rigorous and yet attainable.

Speaking of assessments, I am proud of our performance on the state assessment which was conducted in the spring of this year. The results showed that we had impressive scores for both achievement and growth and that our overall score on the school performance framework was a little more than 88 out of a possible 100 points. This total score was one of the highest we have ever received and is a strong indicator that we are on track in terms of supporting students to reach their full potential. To me it is also proof that we have an outstanding staff that work together to do what is best for every child at our school.

I am excited to embark on a new school year and look forward to watching students grow and flourish at Coyote Ridge Elementary - where it is always a good day to be a Coyote.

Sincerely,

Dr. Mike
