Welcome to the 2023-2024 School Year
Post
Dear Parents and Guardians -
We hope everyone had an enjoyable and relaxing summer. We are excited to welcome students back for the start of the 2023-2024 school year! This year we all will be adjusting to the new calendar and revised school schedule. We will be starting the school day a bit earlier and ending earlier as well, and there will be breaks during the year which we hope will improve student attendance and keep everyone engaged in learning when school is in session.
This will mark our second year of using Benchmark Advance as a literacy resource. Teachers also will be using a new literacy assessment to measure student progress on a consistent basis during the school year.
Another way teachers will monitor progress is by meeting every other week in grade level teams to assess student work and make adjustments in instruction as needed based on exit tickets and formative assessment. Teachers also will create exemplars to help clarify expectations for grade level work and engage in lesson studies to improve their teaching practice.
As a community, we are proud to be in the top 20% when compared to other schools nationally on the family Panorama Survey in terms of school climate, school fit and staff-family relationships. We take pride in the strong connection we have with students and their parents as we work together to meet the academic and social emotional needs of every student at our school.
When you have a few minutes, please take some time to navigate our school website. On the website you can view the updated calendar for upcoming events including our Open House on August 10th and the Back to School Night on August 22nd. I encourage you to also check out the resources tab to review the student handbook and the supply list for different grade levels.
We are looking forward to welcoming students on the first day of school on August 14. If you are new to our school you will quickly see why it is always a great day to be a Coyote!
Sincerely,
Dr. Mike
