Aloha! I am so excited to be a part of the Coyote Ridge community as a staff member. Our family has loved being a part to the Coyote Ridge family for the last four years. My daughter is in the seventh grade at Westlake, and my son is a fifth grader here at Coyote Ridge Elementary.
A few years ago, my family and I moved to Colorado from Hawaii, where I was born and raised by two lifelong educators. My husband is from Colorado Springs and is very happy to be home. We love to spend our free time hiking, paddling, skiing, camping, and exploring this beautiful state.
I got my bachelor's degree from California State University at Long Beach in Liberal Studies with an emphasis in Multicultural Studies. I earned my master's degree from Boston University in Elementary Education. It's hard to believe that this will be my 24th year in education. Most of that time was spent teaching third, fourth, and fifth grades, both in Boston and Hawaii. Before leaving Hawaii, I had the opportunity to be an instructional coach for three years. I've been a fifth grade teacher for the last four years in the Adams 12 district.
I believe that every student can learn to the highest levels. It is my job to create a safe and supportive environment where students are willing to take risks, collaborate, and make mistakes. In doing so, their brains will grow, and they will be able to embrace challenges and solve problems with enthusiasm. I look forward to the experiences we will create together.
