Hello! My name is Rachel Haas. I am so excited to be a part of the Coyote Ridge team this year as the GT Resource Partner. I am native to Colorado, although I moved away for a short time during high school to Houston, Texas. After college I decided I couldn’t stay away any longer and my husband and I moved to northern Colorado in 2003. I attended Brigham Young University and majored in Marriage, Family, and Human Development in 2003. Many years later, I went back and got my Master’s degree in 2016 from University of Phoenix in Elementary Education. I have been married for 17 years and I have 2 daughters. Elle is 15 and Reese is 12 and I am loving having older kids, although it is very different than I expected it to be! Our family loves to be in the mountains whenever possible. We love to ski, 4 wheel, and just hang out anywhere in the mountains. I like hiking, but my husband is an avid hiker and has almost finished all of Colorado’s 14ers. Much to his disappointment I have only done a few of them with him.
I love watching students reach their goals and potential. I strongly believe that it is so important as educators to give students the tools, knowledge, and skills they need to be successful now and in their future and develop them as a whole child, not just academically. I want every student to come to school and have their brain stretched every day, no matter who they are or what level they are at.
VIRTUAL LEARNING INFORMATION:
Here is a link to video instructions for how to log in to Google at home:
I want to make sure I am still available to our GT students/families during this time. Students can access OPTIONAL resources on their grade level Google classroom. 3rd-5th graders will continue to use the Google classroos we have already set up together. K-2nd graders will need to join the Google classroom I have created using the code that I have sent through email to parents. I am available for questions, extra resources, etc... My virtual office hours will be:
Thursdays 8:00-9:00 a.m and 2:30-3:30 p.m.
For now, you can get a hold of me during these hours through email at email@example.com - I miss seeing all the kids every week and please know that I am here to support you and you student(s).
Those who were almost finished with projects (3rd-5th), we will figure out a way to have them present virtually to their teachers/classes/myself if needed as we see what hapens over the new few weeks. If we find that we are engaged in virtual learning longer than expected, I will put out more communication about that later on.
